About me
Kathleen Houlihan, MSIS (she/they)
Kathleen is the Teen Librarian III at APL's Teen Central, and has been working with-and-for teens for over 15 years. She has served teens both in and out of library spaces, including working with youth in residential treatment facilities and youth who are incarcerated. She is a former YALSA Youth Outcomes trainer, and is a practitioner of trust-centered and trauma-responsive philosophies for working with teens. She finds that much of the inspiration, energy, and joy in library work can come from working to build trust with our teen communities and striving to collaborate with them to co-create libraries that meet their needs and their vision for what the library could be.
